Island Reefs, Wrecks & Open Water Action

Fish the inshore tropical islands, reefs, and wrecks aboard our 19ft centre console “Tropic Star” – a custom Sportsman vessel in 2C survey. These private trips target a wide range of tropical sportfish using topwater, jigging, and spinning techniques.

The Day

• Pick-up from Cairns or Port Douglas (6:30am Cairns, 7:00am Port Douglas)

• Return around 4:00pm

• Travel time up to 1 hour depending on launch site

• Includes: Lunch, snacks, water, drinks, and tea/coffee

• Tropical island stop for lunch and a swim

Gear & Tackle

• Rod & reel outfits provided – light jigging, spinning & popping setups

• Topwater anglers should bring a few 80–100g stickbaits or poppers

• Included tackle: high-quality jigs, plastics, metal lures, and selected topwater options

What to Bring

• Hat, long-sleeve shirt, sunblock, and polarized sunglasses

• Beach towel and swimwear

• Waterproof camera if desired

Season & Weather

• Best time: September to April for calm seas and light winds

• Trips are weather dependent – if too windy offshore, we’ll fish the estuary or river system instead for your safety and comfort
